I have decided today to postspone my search for a horse, due to the fact that I am going to give this new drug a try, Alli.

Now I know what you may be thinking....."slimming pills don't work", well I have done some research and I have even been to see the pharmacist today and gone through how this works, side effects etc etc and decided to give it a go.

Hopefully this will help me lose the weight and will eventually when I start my search again I will have more to choose from.

Time will tell!

Are you serious?? Well, will be interested to know if it works. I hear if you do intake too much fat/calories it will let you know about it in no uncertain times and come out in a rather unpleasant fashion! Not sure I could put up with that!!! hehe

lol yes!! flatulence is one prob with it and if you do eat too much fat then yes you can get the trots!! lol

Hi Fernando, snap I am starting them tomorrow too!
good luck!
I think its very expensive not to stick to the rules! lol

Whats wrong with good old diet & exercise?

Remember that weight didn't go on over night, so it shouldn't be expected to go over night either.

There is no 'quick fix' to weight loss - less food and more exercise and you'll lose weight!

I have lost a stone this year so far with just eating less carbs, less fat and exercising more!

This is not a quick fix...as the pharmacist kept repeating to me!
This is just an aid.....this will encourage healthy eating as the effects of eating too much fat will lead to the trots.
The pharmacist has also said that I need to be on a calorie controlled diet have to up my excercise.
No such thing as a quick fix - I know

I'm sorry, i don't mean to sound rude or anything, i am genuinely curious - why do you need a pill costing £50 a month (or so i hear) to get you to eat healthy?

the pill does not make you eat healthy, it stops some of the fat from your healthy meal from being absorbed, so you can eat healthy and still loose more weight that you would by just eating healthily.

I have struggled with my weight since I had my first child and have tried lots of diets, which did not work.

I started a diet a week before easter and lost 6lbs in one week by upping my excercise and watching what I eat and what better motivation then spending £50 on something that aids the weight loss as I would not want to waste the money so that in turn will motivate me more!! I know bit of a strange argument ! lol

Well, yes, i guess if i had just spent that amount of money, i would bloody well stick to it!!! Good luck and i hope it works for you xx

I'd be careful with weight-loss pills :S Apparently they can put you at increased risk of heart troubles... it's just something I've heard ...

But obviously it's up to yourselves

Good luck-!

Good luck.... hope it works as well as advertised

The only slimming pills I ever tried were bought from a back street clinic and had me as high as a kite..... I didnt eat, sleep or stop thinking for days

But I am sure they were just speed.... sure yours wont be

Hi, I'm a pharmacist and can assure you Alli does not act on the heart at all. It works by stooping large fat molecules being broken down in the gut into the smaller fat molecules that are absorbed by the body and cause the problems. Obviously it can have some unpleasand side effects (fart and you'll follow through as it's know in my shop

) but if you follow the low fat diet combined with exercise the incidence is quite low. Anybody who's interested should talk to their local pharmacist and can check out the website, lots of useful info on there

Well unless you are GROSSLY overweight, you should be able to find a suitable horse. Its a good idea, in general, if you can (and its very hard) loose some weight but in the meantime you have a life to live.So many people diet (me!) loose quite a lot then gradually put it on again SO if you loose a lot, find a finer horse, then put ita ll back on again what are you going to do?

Well, it sort of does belong in latest news seeing as they just announced the drug was to be sold over the counter here it is 'news'. What i do find a little bit daft is the fact it says you HAVE to follow a low fat diet for it to work. So, ok fair enough but if you followed a low fat diet and exercised anyway you would lose weight!

The makers seem to suggest that this pill will only help you lose 1lb more for every 2lb you may lose anyway if you just followed a healthy diet and did more exercise.

Therefore personally I think I'd rather spend my £50/mth (if that's correct) on joining a gym! OR I'd ssve the £50 and get myself out jogging/cycling in my spare time.

Where as I can see where you are coming from, I do not like going to a gym environment. I am a big fan of walking and do loads of it so I am not a total couch potatoe.
I weigh just under 15 stone and am 5'2 (ish) the main reason behind taking this pill is the fact that my BMI is 38 when the normal is 25 (i think!). I do not want to be a size 0 I want a BMI that is healthy. I was totally dumbfounded when I found out my BMI!
Spending the £50.00 per month is more of a motivation to keep to the healthy diet and I find is motivating me even more especially as I am unable to take capsules/tablets and this is forcing me to tackle this issue also!

Also if you do intake too much fat I believe that the trots could follow! and I do not really fancy having them!! lol
