Horse Searching!

It depends on your riding experience. I would say that under normal circumstances an ex-racer that has not yet been re-schooled would be too much as a first horse. It says the horse is forward going and ex-racers can be sharp.

Have you tried phoning round any dealers in Lancashire yet? I am sure peeps on here will have recommendations. I just bought a new horse from Derek Bolton and am really pleased with the horse and found Derek good to deal with. I know many others who have been pleased with horses they had from him.

Experiance wise : Riding = good. I've ridden all my life.

I've looked after horses, but most of them have been riding school horses, or really laid back; so I dont think I could handle anything which pulled faces etc, because I'd lose my confidence.

cyberhorse - I dont knw any dealers in Lancashire; tried to find some but not much look. do you know of any?

Is Derek Bolton from Lancashire ? Just googled him and notmuch came up.

Thanks :) xx

He does look a nice horse but I have no experience of ex racers so I'm not sure about their suitability to first time buyers, I do notice in the advert she does say "no novices" would she class a first time buyer in that category I wonder, not sure! You will find alot of ex racers in that price category and generally safe reliabile horses are still worth their weight in gold and some pretty suitable may be priced more like ~£3K

There generally seems to be a few views on the current market depending on what way your looking at it, either theres not enough good horses for sale as owners are keeping hold of them as they can not get the prices they still want them therefore people can not find good horses at resonable prices very easily OR People still put horses as you describe on for what they think they are still worth and buyers are no longer willing to pay prices like that. Either way there is hope you just need to be on the ball look for something just over the £2K mark and see if they will be open to offers.

Wow! Really really like the two mares! :D
There lovely; fhave written down the phone numbers and will give them a call later :D

I've found this one:

The first and second one seem nice :) ? xx

my friend bought a horse from Derek Bolton and when it arrived I told her it was hopping lame. Many vet visits later we discovered it had navicular. Derek refused to take the horse back even for an exchange and refused to speak to my friend about it. Never dealt with him myself but after that episode I never will!

forgot to add... we traced the previous owner via the passport and she told us she sold it to Derek because she could no longer showjump due to the navicular....and he bought the horse from her knowing it had the navicular.
