over the past three days my mare has been rather quiet. her routine hasn't changed, she's still eating her food and most of her hay, she seems fine in herself although she does have the runs...any ideas of what I can do to get her back on top form?

she was wormed on sunday but does have a regular worming routine, she's also been a little hot in her rug, not sweaty but to warm. She already has probiotics in her supplements...I tend to give her Guiness as a pick me up when she's down, what do you think?

I think it might be worth having a chat with the vet in that case, could be a low grade infection so bloods might point you in the right direction, analysis of the droppings might also be worth doing. Are you using a weight tape to keep track of condition?

It has literally been the last three days so not a very long time, I'll monitor it for a bit longer and try my guiness route. Thanks for your help, it really is appreciated.

My boy was showing the same syptoms a while ago - I left it a week or so then got the vet out, he had an ascending infection from his stomach and his liver enzymes were raised. He had some anti-biotics and was right as rain.
Not saying that's what your horse has but agree with watcher that it might be worth getting some bloods done.
He also had a tapeworm infestation despite a religious worming routine (apparently we have it in our pasture from foxes?!).

Thanks for that. I'll watch her for a couple more days and them think about vet if she's not any better. Thanks for advcie, very much appreciated.

No problem!
Those damn horses are sent to test us I'm sure!!!!!!
Hope she's ok, keep us posted!
