So my boy had the X-rays for suspected kissing spine (plus stifle and hock x-rays) Back was fine - except for narrowing of one vertebrae in the thoracic/lumbar region. Stifles has very subtle DJD changes and hocks both showed signs of DJD (one worse than other) but nothing not to be expected in a 13 year old Hunter. I was then told that the next stage would be to steroid inject the vertebrae in his back and his hocks (which he has had done today) so now got a two week wait to see whether this will have worked, bless him. Just so relieved that it isn't kissing spine! I can't tell you how pleased I was to see the x-rays - even with the one abnormal vertebrae.

Vet still isn't convinced that the hocks and back would be causing the degree of lameness we are seeing so after two weeks, if he is 100% sound then we will know this was the cause but if not then she is going to refer him for a bone scan as then the problem is most likely in the sacral/coccygeal vertebrae but fingers crossed these steroids work. He is my horse of a lifetime and I hate to think of him being in pain - I'll do whatever it takes to get him right again.

Just updating as I've had a few people on here ask me to keep them updated. Thanks for reading :)
