Hi,

I'm looking for a horse share but was wondering if we're allowed to post a 'wanted' ad here on the forums? Does anyone know if it's allowed?

Thanks!

Ah that's a shame... I've put an ad on one site and the other one I went on turns out not to be free after all.

Thanks for the reply though

It depends what level you are looking for... riding schools often do part loan. Sites such as New Rider and Right Equine have quite a few adverts. Im looking for a competion ride.. which is a little harder to come by unfortunately!

Thanks for your messages. I'm definitely not looking for a riding school type of arrangement as I want a horse that matches my ability really... one that I could do some competing on would be nice...

Before I bought my own, I found my last share horse by putting up a wanted ad and they didn't advertise him for share. It's so long ago, I can't remember which sites I used.

Actually I'd be interested in which sites people use to look for shares from the other point of view as I may be looking for a sharer soon.

Hi Criso, that's what I'd like to do - share before I buy my own. I had horses for years in the past but with work commitments as they are at the moment, I thought sharing would be ideal for me to get some rides in and get my horse fix in the spare time that I do have. I have been to a couple of riding schools for hacks but they're just not suitable and I've become increasingly p****d off with the level of service and the well being of their horses.

Anyway, thanks everyone for all your messages..!

Post some ads / look in the windows in tack shops in the areas that are easily accessible to you from home... Or look on the pets section of guildford.gumtree.com as a few people
advertise there and those ads might be less viewed than those on horse-only sites.

I've just started a share and the websites which I used were:

www.horsemart.co.uk
www.newrider.com
www.horsesharesuk.co.uk
www.horsetoloan.com
www.equineadverts.co.uk

I thought Horsemart and Newrider were the best - they seemed to have the most adverts on and to be updated the most - they usually have 2 or 3 new shares put up each day.

All of these were free for me to find a horse to share on (although I browsed the adverts rather than advertising that I wanted a share - they might charge you for that).

Good luck!
