Horse shopping, anyone like to help me spend some money?

I’m in the market for a proper leg at each corner hairy cob.

Minimum 11.2hh, ideally no more than 13hh. 12.2hh would be perfect.

I don’t mind green/unschooled, and it doesn’t need to have done any showing or PC type stuff but it must be riding nicely and confidently hacking out alone, and nothing with plums. Which rules out half the offerings on DD.
I would also prefer any other colour than piebald, which rules out the other half.
As my daughter will be handling and riding it, the most important factor is a kind and sensible nature.

Budget around £3000

At the moment all I seem to find are ‘ride and drive’ 2 year olds, or ones that have been everywhere and won everything, with a price tag to match.
I want something in between.

I'll see if I can find more later but how about one these to get you started?

Stapleford Ponies on FB has a couple black cobs that might also be of interest.

Tinkerbell is too big and out of my price range, and the bottom one I’ve already enquired about but there’s something not quite right about him.
But the others are worth checking out thanks.

Happy to help - it gives me an excuse to procrastinate. Have added a few more now, though some may be too far.

As an aside, when I was looking, I found that a lot of 13.2/13.3s were 13hh at a push. But they get marketed for the small adult market and so advertised as bigger than they are.

You should have plenty to choose from because looking the the cheaper end of the market (as I have been recently), they seem to fall into three categories, ex racehorses, small young cobs and older/problem animals. I've gone for the older option and now have a 21yo Argentine ex polo pony, I wanted something reliable and I'm very pleased!

Good luck!

I think my friends cob came from him as well his been a brilliant pony for her, he lived here at my house for a while when they had no stable, easy pony to look after and never had any problems with him.
Having talked to the seller, the blagdon is probably too sharp for a young child.
But definitely an honest dealer.

Is this too big?
On another post there is this…

I bought this little cob somewhat on impulse the day my dad died in late January. I’m far too big for her, (she’s 14.1hh and I’m fat) and her job for me - covering Chip’s maternity leave (and providing much needed distraction after dad’s death) is done.

Turns out she is a little star…. I knew she had showing/dressage potential when I bought her, but it turns out she’d love to be a PC/RC all rounder.

I’d also like to find her a lovely home by word of mouth and ideally local… anyone in the market for an absolute sweet of a traditional cob?
