Would anyone (preferably someone with horse buying experience!) mind me sending through a PM with some horse ads to have a look at and share a view?

For sake of openness - I'm not quite ready to start making calls but have been looking more seriously at ads to get a sense of what's out there, how my budget is compared to what I'd like, dealers to avoid etc. etc.

I'm sending some to my instructor too but don't want to bombard her! She's also sent suggestions through. The general gist I'm getting from her is: don't go too young or too big, and definitely do not go for a big young horse. Obviously I keep falling in love with 17hh+ 5yos

I'd really appreciate a couple of people to bounce ideas off while I work up the courage to actually make the call. At current rate, I anticipate this could take another month or two 😂

My physio friend says that big young fast growing horses are to be avoided at all costs. Research has shown that the best size that has the least amount of trouble with joints and soft tissue injures is around 16hh.

I think people need a few more clues! Eg what do you plan to do? What is too big? Depends how tall you are...
Sorry, yes that would help though I can give a bit more info on PM too if needed.

First horse for novice. I ride fairly balanced I think and learning to ride from seat. Confidence has been an issue so a forgiving type is important. I'm hoping to hack alone and in company, do lessons in flatwork and poles, and in time to do a little jumping. We'd not in danger of going over 80cm I would think! I enjoy ground work and am practicing lunging so I'd like to keep improving those skills too. If I could do bits like fun rides/camps/clinics in time that would be lovely.

I'm 5'7" and around 75kg - my preference would be for not under 15/15.2hh. I actually don't mind bigger horses but equally take my instructor's point.

Again going with my instructor's advice I think we're probably not looking under 6 or 7yo but there isn't really an upper age limit (within reason).

Slight preference for gelding but also open to mares.

Not sure I can afford to be too choosy on colours or breed, but slight preference for non-grey. Probably not a TB or Warmblood. I do not need sporty or flashy or big paces which will likely launch me into space. Open to cobs but not super heavy or hairy!
