We have organised a show for 20th July in Washingborough near Lincoln.
A Cleveland Bay class has been suggested any more suggestions?
Will be lots of fun, loads of Trophies, medals and Rosettes to all.
Chaps Qualifiers, Equestrian Life Qualifiers and Shires/All horse showjumping Qualifiers.
Classes for all, complete begginner rings to advance rider rings.
Please leave here or pm me.

It is a bit of a long way haveing driven there and straight back, what a day that was.
We have all the usual classes but being rather thick did not think to ask what classes people would actually like until the Lady suggested Cleveland Bay. After all the show is for people to come and have fun. Better if classes they want.

But you can't please all the people all the time, and if you have too many classes it can be difficult to keep the organisation up.

But, broodmare classes?

Something for TB's (not just for ex-racers either), show hack perhaps?

Yes have this too, i did better than i thought. We have not got an ex-racehorse class but do have a sponsored memorial class named after one.
We had an Arab class then took it off as was trying to reduce the classes, dreading loads of people asking for that.

Glad you said that, you have got me down to a tee trying to please everyone. We did reduce the classes a bit then thought as the schedule is not cinfirmed we could look at the classes we do have and keep what people want, take some off and put on what people want what we do not have.
Started as a small local thing and has grown!!
Will be a good day though i hope.
I just want people to enjoy themselves.
I know the organisation will be moaned about but we will listen and change things for next time.
First show where we are!

Maybe a class for first time showing people? The horse being any type but the rider/horse not having shown before as a gentle way to introduce people to ringcraft.

Yes we have seperate rings for the complete starter in showing and jumping. They don't have to wear the correct show stuff either but will be judged on neatness and cleanliness. Hats to the proper standard and suitable footwear a must though of course.

Palomino class? Too far for me though.

Had not thought of this one. Anyone else for Palomino? Could go with other colours i suppose creamelo's etc but judged in their own right.
Will have to see how the requests go on this one.

Do you have any fun classes for little ones or novices?

ETA, do you roughly how many entries you're going to have? That way you can roughly judge how many classes you'll need to get a reasonable amount of people to enter

I remember the first time i did a show class. Came second! Was terrified, did not have a clue. The judge was fantastic, encourageing and gave loads of advice, the winner was also a huge help - was a coloured class.
Thats why we have the begginners/triers. It realy helps.
I got the bug after that.

Yes we do, they have their own ring. No idea regards entrants, our first annual show. Reasonable priced entry so hope for lots of people. Many rings to cater for novices, children advanced etc.
Any more info please pm me.
Changeing to acomodate what people want.
Just addes ex-racehorse qualifiers.

Can't imagine who would ask for a CB class

In hand and ridden please!!! alternativly you could do rare breeds if you want to increase entries - but please warn the judge not to suggest my horse is a clydesdale!!! - yes they did

I like the idea of novice showing classes, it's so scary when you're new to it all and your plaits are a bit wonky and your jacket isn't the right colour but you've still tried hard!

Another reason why we are haveing them and rosettes to all. People try so hard.

Another vote to please try not to do too many classes. I have been put off many a small local show because there are a million classes squeezed into the schedule and you know full well that e.g. 8 ridden M&Ms are not going to be judged in 15 minutes!

Can combine nicely though - rarebreeds class can cover a multitude of horses (although woe betide the judge!!) or how about "best example of breed not eligible for another class" - so would be none of the popular breeds but each horse would be competing against its own breed standard more than the others in the class if you get me.
paliminos could combine with cremello, spotted and coloureds, if sufficient entries rosette to highest places pali if you want?

Combining/splitting classes is great IMO - judge as one class but rosette to highest places X or Y means they feel they are getting a more personal deal.

handy pony & handy horse, of course!!!

Jumping for the terrified - course no bigger than 2 ft and open for adults and horses not just ponies (and possibly allow people to put jumps down before their round if 1ft is their limit!)

equitation is something anyone can do no matter what their horse is like.

can you tell what I'm into and scared of???

Thankyou for all the advice, i think our nervous novice may just change its name to Jumping for the terrified.

So fitting, especially to some people that have asked.
We are looking at the classes and seeing which we can combine/omit.
People have been so helpful, thankyou all. It really does help to have another point of view.
