I'll repost this here because I accidentally posted it in equine affairs *facepalm*

I live in south bucks and I really want to build my photography portfolio/experience at shows, so has anyone got any suggestions of nearby ones that would be good to go to?

I'm also considering, if there's any interest, in going to specific shows and photographing for riders (people on here) and then selling the photos reasonably cheap (the large size file and rights to do whatever you want with it, not just a print like most photographers do). So, would anyone be interested?

Why not offer to go somewhere for free, just for practice, and then show people your photos, and if they like them, perhaps they can buy them? Cheap prices to start with whilst you get the hang of it?
Our livery yard has many dressage and jumping lessons on, we have whole days of clinics on a regular basis (we are north High Wycombe).
I know its not a show, but I am sure people would be happy to give you feedback.

Alternatively you could go to a show and take some pictures for practice? Although I would contact the organiser first to check its OK.

For a full set up you will need a stand so you can publicise yourself and a website. Although most who do well are the ones with onsite printing.

I recently did a local dressage comp and would have loved some photos!!

I'm happy to do stuff for free because i'm by no means an expert (but pretty skint, so if I could make some money off it that would be great!)

Which yard are you at?

I tend to go to the county shows and take photos there - it's brilliant because you can get so close, i'm going to bucks county show next month so hopefully will get some good example photos there now i'm starting to get the hang of it.

I just need to take it bit by bit, i think. i'm only 16 so my budget is low and i don't have all the fancy gear that you see the professional photographers with, but i can get some pretty decent shots, maybe I will have to look into a website at some point, or an online portfolio or something.

Thanks for all the advice though!
