Hi guys,

Just wanna no everyones thoughts on horse sitting and dog walking? What are the going rates? I have just started up and thought £25 a day for horse sitting which includes: checking twice a day, changing rugs, feed and water and poo picking for that day. Exercising and extras to be discussed???? What do you think?

Also for the dog walking £10 a hours walk.
And i can offer Gun dog training.

Please can you share you thoughts and tell me what you think.?

Thanks:)

I would be interested in the Horse Sitting side, I keep my horse on DIY livery but there is no-one reliable that I can trust to look after him if I want to go away for the weekend etc... He gets fed around 6.30am and then turned out - no-one on my yard goes down at that time normally (apart from me lol).
I have never looked into it, so don't have a clue about prices - but I would be happy to pay £25 a day, if I knew he would be looked after properly :D

Just out of interest - What area are you in?

On our yard the freelance grooms charge £10 a day for turnout/in all jobs, rugs and feet picked out. Grooming £2.50, lunging/hacking £15, if they are a very good rider schooling £20. Thats in Herts near London so more expensive than where I was when it was £5 a day.

Breakdown of costs if intersted, £2 turnout + rugs, £2 bring in, rugs + feet, £5 muck out and water/feed/hay and £1 covers if emergency vet needed to call and attend!

House and dog sitting I do its £10 a day for 1 dog, and £5 extra per dog per day - includes feeding, caring for and walking daily.

Staffordshire area!
I think there are lots of people out there that look for reliable people to care for their horses in the same way they care for them themselves.
Dont think £25 a day is too unreasonable as it includes alot of the horses usual routine. And i thought of offering people special discounts for weekly and fortnightly holidays. Such as £100 for the week and the weekend free? :)

Mine are at home, so I prefer an actual house sitter to look after dogs, horses and rabbit! I expect them to live in also. Normally pay about £50 a day for the service!!
