Please would you take a few minutes to answer a couple of questions for me about horse sitting. I'm looking at setting up a horse sitting service.

1) Would you use a horse sitter whilst you was on holiday or unable to attend or would you ask fellow liveries/friends?

2) How much would you pay for full care per day (feed, rug change, turnout, muck out, water, hay, poo pick field, check fencing, check water, bring in, feed, rug and bed down for the night)

3) How much would you pay for care of a field kept horse (feed, hay if required, water, poo pick, change rugs, check fencing).

4) How much would you pay for a turmout out or bring in only?

Thank you so much for your input. I know it varies greatly on area (I'm in Kent) I would be greatful for any comments. :)

Please would you take a few minutes to answer a couple of questions for me about horse sitting. I'm looking at setting up a horse sitting service.

1) Would you use a horse sitter whilst you was on holiday or unable to attend or would you ask fellow liveries/friends? I currently use a friend and then do hers when she is on holiday, however if she was unavailable I would consider using this type of service

2) How much would you pay for full care per day (feed, rug change, turnout, muck out, water, hay, poo pick field, check fencing, check water, bring in, feed, rug and bed down for the night)£15 but i would not want the poo picking as we have a local lad who does that! I would also have all feeds made up ready so you only had to empty a bag into a bucket.

3) How much would you pay for care of a field kept horse (feed, hay if required, water, poo pick, change rugs, check fencing).£8-£10 again no poo picking

4) How much would you pay for a turmout out or bring in only? no idea, wouldn't use this service

Hope that helps, never had to use this sort of service before so I could be way out!

2) How much would you pay for full care per day (feed, rug change, turnout, muck out, water, hay, poo pick field, check fencing, check water, bring in, feed, rug and bed down for the night) I get paid £25 for an overnighter but that is yard sitting, I would however expect similar for two trips to the yard depending on distance though

3) How much would you pay for care of a field kept horse (feed, hay if required, water, poo pick, change rugs, check fencing). £10 pd

4) How much would you pay for a turmout out or bring in only? £5

I am in Yorkshire :)

I prefer to use friends/relatives but if stuck would consider using this service. In fact it is a bit of an issue just now to get a horse sitter for longer periods. My horses live out so would only want that option but would want poo picked. I think I would be prepared to pay about £20 a day for 2 visits. Possibly more if the person was very good. Wish you were up this way!

We have the horses at home plus dogs, cats, goats, alpacas, donkeys, hens and a pig! Everything ( not dogs and cats!) lives out so all pretty easy, I reckon no more than 2 hrs work a day, but on top dog walking, we pay £50 a day up to 3 days, then £40 a day after the three days, we are very happy for our house sitter to have friends over and enjoy themselves, they can also bring their ned if they want, we are right in The New Forest so fabby riding.

Thank you for your replies. Glad I'm on the right track. Charging £10 for full care for a horse out at grass. I'm thinking of charging £20 for full care for stable kept horse with a discount if there is more than one at the same yard as travel costs are a big issue and I am going to be fully insured.
