horse slashings update

Hi again,

I honestly think thie "occult" rumours that have been going around are linked to an old tomb in the area. There's absolutely nothing sinister about it at all, it's simply a monument and graves where very affluent landowners from years ago are buried. This tomb is in the middle of the three fields where the first four attacks took place. I think local folk stories about witches have got brought into it somewhere along the line and someone put two and two together and started this mad occult rumour! Having lived here all my life I personally have never heard of any occult things going on in the area.

From the attacks I know about it really does seem random. One mare had her genitals mutilated, mine had her legs slashed under the hocks and the third had puncture wounds on the inside of his legs and a slash to his hock. The other that was slashed near to us apparently had a slash to it's back leg too. The two most recent ones as far as I've been told were also slashed to the back lower legs.

Why do horses stand and let people do this? I have no idea, although I think my horse had been sedated, but it has been suggested she may have been twitched....I suppose I'll never know. I've read so many reports looking for answers. The reasons for these attacks could be numerous. I've given up trying to rationalise the how's, why's, and if only's of the full thing. I just count myself incredibly lucky to still have my girl. One things for sure though never again will I turn her out at night. Cruel as this sounds, I could never again watch her going through what she is at the moment x

Huge sympathies for what you are going through. It must be horrendous. Just a thought, has anyone taken a blood sample to see if the horses had been doped?

It seems a travesty that the 'pagan/occult' rumour train is taking over from the most important factor here ie the pain and suffering caused to these poor horses and the people involved.

(((((huge hugs))))))))

That seems more important than all this pagan crap.

I was in too much of a panic the morning I found her to think if she'd been sedated. I put it down to shock to be honest. But on hindsight her lower lip was hanging down as was her head. (This dawned on me that night) She didn't appear distressed at all, but as I said I was too freaked out when I seen her injuries to consider any of this. The other odd thing is JW (my mare) won't now take tit bits from anyone she doesn't know - she always did in the past. If anyone she doesn't know now approaches her with tit bits the ears go flat back and their liable to get a nip!

Thanks for the hugs MJ their very much appreciated :-)

I just cannot believe the way in which the authorities seem to be so blase about some of these events. The kind of warped mind belonging to a person who could do this could really be capable of anything quite frankly - including attacking people and yet more animals. My heart goes out to all of the horses and owners who have suffered at the hands of these truly horrendous human beings. I really do hope that whoever the sicko/sickos is/are that they are brought to account for what they have done xxxxxxx

It sounds as if they may be sedating them with something in food then......how obscene.......would it be worth mentioning to the police, so that if it happens again (god forbid) they could suggest to the owners that the vet took a blood sample whilst treating? It might help to know what they've been given to try and catch the scum that did this. If it was a horse normal sedative, then they must know about horses, but if it was something like rohypnol, or some other human intended drug, then that might give a clue to the culprits.
I would have been exactly the same as you, please don't think I meant to be critical, because I didn't. The shock and horror and desire to help the horse will always override anything else.
I hope nobody else is put through the suffering you and the others have had to endure.
Thinking about you.....I used to live in Central Scotland, so it's very frighteningly close to home for me.....
