Horse Sleeping Habits

One thing that I have gained from all this foaling watching is I have observed all the different sleeping habits of my various neddies. Most of mine seem to sleep flat out but here is what I have noticed about some of them:
My Grey 3yo - Sleeps flat out and snores like you wouldn't believe, everytime you go out you think someone is dying out there!
My Chestnut 3yo - Also sleeps flat out and suffers with wind... and i mean suffers with wind... funniest thing is she is such a prim and proper type during the day that its hilarious to here her farting all night!
Yearlings - They all sleep flat out in a pickled heap in middle of pen, they can't really be comfortable in those positions.
Stallion - is so cute, he lies down in the sit up position and looks so sweet.
Boo - Sleeps stood up and when I look in on her after the rounds her eyes are tight shut and she doesn't even notice me looking in.

I have not been able to watch while mine sleeps but he is a creature of habit and when stabled at night in his field stable, would always have a lie down early in the morning and be up by about 5.30am. Now he is out 24/7 he still goes and uses his field stable for his lies down and is covered every morning in shavings at 5.30am!!!

I have noticed this too, the weanlings always seem to have a late morning nap at 11am during the winter and if its nice enough for them to go out they all come in looking shattered because they been out playing (but secretly I think its because they've missed their morning snooze!)

aw, once I came in earlier to visit my horse than normal - it was like 5 am as I had an early start that day and had to muck out etc earlier than normal. I came in and I saw her asleep in her stable... sooo cute. I had only ever seen her sleeping standing up before which looked more like dozing. She was lieing down in her thermo rug and had brought the straw all around her to make it cozy and comfy, lip all droopy... she was surprised to see me and wasn't too happy about being woken up.... lol
