My horse has had a problem on this same front leg for over a year now. He first went lame (only very mild) this time last year, we scanned and x-rayed and couldn’t find anything so he had an arthramid injection which didn’t solve anything so we gave him 3 months in the field, by the second month he was sound again but we wanted to give him a bit extra. He then was sound and evented again up until the end of May where he started coming out mildly lame but came sound once loosened off, had his back looked at by a specialist and he found a muscle imbalance which explained why he was loading pressure onto his front leg, had that sorted, gave him time of just easy hacking to gain strength again and he had a steroid injection in front leg, had his back checked again start of July and said he was looking absolutely perfect so started competing again. A week later he started coming out lame but eased off with work (less than a minute of trotting) and has been doing this since. He’s sound if he’s walked for plenty of time (I.e. out hacking) and has never been hopping lame, only ever so slightly off. If you do a flexion test he gets worse so has to be something that eases off with work/tightens when put under pressure. Does anyone have any experience/advice with this? Vet is coming out.

An old trainer of mine used to ride a horse for an owner. It was lame when she first started then became sound soon after. I could never understand it but it was right. If he didn't get ridden for a few days he was terrible but in regular work he was sound after a few minutes. He competed dressage to a fairly high standard.

I also tried a horse out for someone in march, she was lame! She was a 14 yr old rs pony that had been passed about and put in foal etc But she was not consistently lame, for what the owner wanted her for she was fine and v cheap. Agreed a price and 8 months later she is no longer lame ??‍♀️ Owner is delighted, the lameness felt like a conformation lameness to me and farrier said she was very uneven and a couple of months of corrective farrier work she is fine
