So horse decides to throw something else at me that I’ve never seen before. Appears quite sore in the “armpit” area, underneath his chest/behind legs. Doesn’t appear red or inflamed, but there isn’t much hair in there. On both sides. Got rather grouchy when I had a better look/feel at it, so presume it’s a bit sore.

I’ve put some Vaseline wondergel type stiff on it, as it was all I had to hand at the time. He is out 24/7, no mud in there, and not sweating. Any thoughts?

Hubby's mare would get a wee sweat rash in her armpits, or or she has been washed and the area not dried thoroughly with a towel.

A squirt of hypocare for a couple of days sorts it out completely.

My gelding sounds exactly the same was grooming him and next thing I know leg was flying-
He really wasn’t happy about it being touched, he is grey and sensitive anyway but I think it’s where his coat is changing so he is extra bald I just did same as you Vaseline and also using sheepskin girth sleeve to prevent him being rubbed anymore,
Im hoping it settles in a week or so now summer coat is starting
