Anit-cast strips - how high off the floor and how does this relate to horse/pony size using the stable. Also do vertical strips work better than horizontal strips?

Have had to create a third "stable" which is really only for my youngster for occasional use and somewhere he can get shelter if needs be when other two horses are in their stable overnight if their weather is dire. I wouldn't close him in when others are in the stables but allow him to wander in and out (my stables are in my field) but because it is narrower ie 12ft by 9ft, I am worried he may get cast if he tries to lie down so would like to place these strips as a preventative measure. I am not putting bedding down to discourage any lying down also.

Any comments/suggestions gratefully received!

I use anti cast strips for my boy, they are about 3 feet from the floor (he is 15.2) and they seem to have done the trick (he used to get cast when he was younger, so we put them up and have had no problem since, they have been up for about 3 years)

All of my stables and field shelters have anti-cast strips. They are all 4ft from the ground but most of my horses are big. For ponies I'd probably go for slightly shorter. All horizontal.
