Horse started spooking - please help

OP - sounds neurological possibly - has he eaten any dropped oak leaves in his paddock, or acorns or any other toxic weed growing in paddock? (people here said this year they noticed lots more acorns drop, maybe due to the uk arid summer this year)

Is his paddock long grass stems with seedheads that possibly are mouldy?

This years draught will have caused grasses to go dormant then growth spurt once rains arrived, so the compounds of grass this year could be entirely different to ‘normal summers’ - also hay cut this year may be very different nutritionally due to the draught/very hot long summer, than in previous years.
Calcium constricts, magnesium relaxes - muscles, nerves and heart. So the cal/mag balance in grass and hay may be more off this year due to the unusual summer, than previous years.
