I just stumbled across this ad re: a horse stolen from a dealer. Sounds there is a back story here.

Knowing my current horse as I do now, I’m not surprised they let me hack out on my own- by the last owners own admission, she couldn’t….was probably hoping I wouldn’t come back with him!

The horse was for sale, the prospective buyers parked a lorry separately from the vehicle they arrived in down the road, hacked down that way and loaded the horse and f*cked off.

Very upsetting for all involved.

Absolute brazen theft.

The horse is in Thirsk. Home to a very notorious dealer of multiple names. I would eat my hat if there wasn’t more to the story. The seller however isn’t that person and has a decent rep as far as I can tell.

If you dont care its easy enough to wait till the horse is out hacking and just drive off. Or even have a excuse, your going to catch them up to take a video, or pop to the shop. Any number of things you could say or do

I think its a bit foolish to let a complete stranger just go on a hack on there own anyway I wouldn't do it.

They picked a day when seller was known to be away & "her girl" was holding the fort.
Poor lass must have been very upset.

No the seller is in thirsk it says in the ad

If you put the name of the seller in to google you get a few interesting reads. I wouldn't suggest the worst reviews of 'dealers' or yard owners but I guess it's all relative.

There has to be more to it than meets the eye. Surely if you knew who took the horse you'd just go to their yard and retrieve it. (with police and a copy of the passport/proof of ownership).
