My boy has just started doing this when he is excited (out hunting usually). It is accompanied by his flanks trembling, sometimes tail swishing and stamping/kicking out/trembling hind legs. When he does this I push him forwards as it only really happens when stood still - I try to keep him on the move as much as possible.

Could this be Azoturia or Shivers or PSSM (he is part Appaloosa) or maybe something else?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Doesn't sound like PSSM to me could be wrong but my old boy had it and it was much more like sporadic periods of tying up rather than odd movements although whilst he was suffering from an episode as it were he would also have muscle fasciculations/tremors but these episodes would last potentially hours not minutes or seconds

My mare had similar symptoms when she had very mild colic, not saying this is what yours is, but mine was the same, she was out in the field though, if she stood still her muscles trembled and she stretched her front legs a lot, we lunged her gently in walk for a good half an hour and it passed, it seems she was just very gassy. Not sure whether its the same with your boy though

Agree mild colic, as over excited, just keep an eye on and note down the day and when it happens, so if it does get worse you can tell your vet, what days and when it happened.
