Horse stuck on gate !

poor horse.


Years ago when I was trying to help by lending my horsebox to get a horse to the police as they brought it. It was a b4rstward at loading, even with vet sedating it as much as they could it would not go in. We tried everything, then all of a sudden it reared up spun and went to jump the wooden gate. unfortunately it did not make it as the area was on a slope and it was trapped on the gate like it was hanging by its rear end legs barely touched the floor and front end fully on. They had to cut the gate each side to allow the horse to drop down. Horse survived albeit bruised.


Had a few do this to stable doors too.
 
Yup, had a silly yearling get hung over a gate once. Three hefty lads slid him off sideways and he never did it again, but did have a swollen sheath for a few days, silly b*gger.
 
I had a yearling do exactly this. We managed to get a bale of hay under back legs which gave it a bit of something to push from and with a bit of pulling from the front he came off. Luckily no damage other than superficial.

Hope all goes well for this poor horse.
 
Hi all, hadn't had chance for an update as my daughter is very poorly again :(
Anyhow he was taken to the vet on Monday and sent home again lol. The vet felt the muscle is healing well enough to avoid surgery :) All the swelling has more or less disappeared and he is fine in himself. It's now a case of at least 3 months rest so I guess he is a boy of leisure til after Xmas and then he will be started off again on vets advice.
All in all very stressful but at least no surgery and it could have been a whole lot worse xx
