My horse has previously travelled with no issues however the last few times it’s like he can’t find his balance, he seems to scramble about and paw at the ground. Honestly thought at one point he might go down!

He’s travelled the last couple of years with no issues. He’s not scared… he happily walks up the ramp!

He’s travelled in a trailer on the right hand side, haven’t yet tried him without the partition in.

Possibly hocks? You will prob find he’s happier without the partition. Our mare travelled find, and then one day didn’t - lots of pawing and scrabbling and refusing to box. Our trailer brakes also need doing so it was a combination of things that were contributing to a not very nice ride for her.

He will be fine if you remove the partition so he has whole area to balance himself. Hiwever i would also suspect some changes in his body happening. Could be arthritis/hocks/stifles. My horse used to travel fine then was diagnosed with navicular and arthritic changes not long after he started scrambling in the trailer.

Have you had the trailer checked or serviced recently? It could be a horse issue but equally a problem with the trailer stabiliTy, moving the partition and giving more room might also work.

He does have arthritis… he’s had arthramid injected at the beginning of the year. It’s in his stifles and coffin joints but he’s currently sound, no lameness or anything
