As title says! My horse wont catch for the yard owner or staff, but he will catch for me absolutely fine, in fact walks over to me. He has no history of not catching, he has always been happy to come in. He was left on his own today pacing around because he "wouldn't" catch, but he walked over to me as soon as he saw me. This is really concerning me! Any thoughts? Also any suggestions how I can get him to catch for them? I cant come up and bring him in every day as I work until tea time and by then all the other horses will be in.

My chestnut mare was like this at the first livery yard she was at. The YO and staff were quite impatient with her to start with (they had lots of horses to bring in and wanted to do it quickly) and this was all it took to put her off them.

Some people give off a certain aura that some horses don't like. I had a mare very similar, wouldn't catch for many people but me and my very quite friend. That said there is a girl at our yard who seems to have problems catching most horses :/

No advice on how to sort it though thy will just have to work through it I guess either that or using a carrot or treat every now and then. But as Faracat said, I they are in a hurry that's more than likely to be the problem.

Tatts go through stages of this, he will let me catch him but not my grooms despite the fact it's rarely me who catches him .
Once when I was away he let my 79 yo mum catch him but not my groom .
I can't work out what he's up to.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I think it's a mixture of him being rushed and not feeling confident with the people handling him. There have been loads of staff changes at the yard and his routine has also changed, and he's been lame, so I think he's feeling very out of sorts! It's easy to put down to cheek but for it to happen out of the blue then something is up. I believe there were 3 of them in the field trying to get him today, probably with body language less than inviting so I'm sure that would be enough for him to want to run to the other side of the field!!
