I'm currently putting together an ad for our pony and am also looking for a new one - just wondering what people thought about mentioning the possibility of 'swapping' in the ad? Good idea/bad idea?

Also, if it did miraculously happen that I managed to find someone to swap with, is there anything I should be aware of that could go wrong?!?

Thanks all

My friend is currently in the process of doing a swap. Should be completed at weekend. I would say that rather than thinking of it as a swap that you complete the transaction as a sale and sell each other your horse for £1 or other token amount and get receipts to show that it was a sale so other person can't come back and decide they don't like horse and want to swap back. Good luck

Ive swapped twice, the first time was my warmblood x cob mare in a straight swap for a cob...cob turned out to be a bit of a handful, so did another swap for an Arab gelding, ive had him 9 years now, best thing i ever did.

ive swapped once but it was kind of a shock move in that i turned up to pony club with one horse and went home with another id never seen- not advisable, i still dont know how it happened!! worked out well though

I have. Swapped a horse that was a bit too much for me and who I'd lost confidence with for my beloved little Teddy. Perfect swap and girl I swapped with has remained a friend and has offered a home to the horse abandonded in my field.
