Hi I picked up. New horse today ...Walter!:) so happy with him will have to show you all him!

Thank you :)

Congrats on your new boy - yes, pics will be needed :D

My old share had a terrible injury - hung himself from a gate and cut his abdomen open, followed by three weeks in Rossdales. Came back pretty much as good as new (except a little abscess blew out a year later) but sweated around the scar almost continually. Vet said (IIRC) nerve damage, and it might resolve itself or might not, but wasn't anything to worry about. Is your boy's scar recent, do you know?

are you sure the scar is sweating and not weeping? as the skin where the scar is will be damaged (the pours) hair follicles and sweat glands do not grow in scar tissue, so I would defiantly get this checked by a vet... do you know how old the scar is?

One of my horses has a saucer sized area of scar tissue on his neck where a subcutaneous sarcoid was removed, and although the scar tissue itself doesn't have sweat glands, the area around the scar is more sensitive and he always sweats up around the scar. He had the surgery about 5 years ago and has been fine ever since apart from this, which is perfectly normal, but if in doubt, chat to your vet :)

One of my mares had a deep scar from impaling herself on a fence. It sweated and wept every summer for about 6 years. Never in winter, only when she was hot and bit more summer weight. Then it just stopped and it's been fine for 4 years now. Scars can take years to settle.

yep - mine had her ovary removed in sept and she has a scar on her flank and it sweats too - so dont worry
