daughters horse really hates the wind.most of the time she settles in the field but in the wind gallops up and down the fence line, bucking, rearing and kicking out.not sure how to manage her as not keen for her to be in all day although would if it was like that all day.my other 2 arent bothered at all by any weather.shes well rugged and has ad lib hay whilst out but just hates it.have wondered about a snuggy hood with ears, longer term i could get a field shelter but what to do in changable weather as dont want an injury.shes not good kept in full time though.

I would say try something that covers her ears, the snuggy hoods are great as long as the other horses don't pull them off over the eyes - it can be scary having a blindfolded horse!!

I don't think there is much else you can do other than get the shelter up asap .... spring will be here soon

Is she cold or does she get wound up by the wind? R used to get badly wound up by the wind but he was the same in the field and ridden. Before I bought him someone else had made an offer, but it had taken so long to get on him for the vetting because it was a windy day, she backed out of the sale.

R has gotten a lot better over the years. I made a point of doing everything as normal on windy days and he eventually came to understand that the wind is not scary. When riding it helps to talk to them over the wind, I think it helps to calm them down.
