Horse things that you would like to invent

some of these are brilliant! spesh the TOG rating for rugs :)

I'd like to invent wellies for horses, then muddy feet/legs will be a thing of the past :)
 
Ok so here's my list:

1. a device for automatically picking out feet and oiling hooves; I'd save a fortune on physio's and chiropractors if I had a machine that would do this!!

2. a machine which automatically tightens girths and maintains the correct tension whilst riding without having to have the daily struggle to meet the gap between girth-strap and buckle

3. following on from (2) above - a machine which would automatically tack-up (and remove tack at end of ride)

4. an automatic turn-out computer/machine which would automatically catch-up whatever horse was required at any particular time, and also turn-out each horse in the right field after exercise. Which would mean that you woulnd't have to lose a wellie boot each time you venture into the field to catch your particular horse! Ditto turnout

5. an automatic tack-cleaning machine

6. a rug-putting-on and taking-off machine (naturally would include automatic selection of what rug was required for which particular horse; bearing in mind weather conditions/temperature etc). This machine would have a link with the Met Office and automatically pick up the weather forecast for each day/night - so each horse would be suitable rugged whatever the weather (LOL - IF you believe the weather forecasts!!!)
 
I agree with the self filling haynets I hate that job! For me it would have to he fly masks that can't be removed in the field and silent non vibrating clippers because my horse is totally petrified of being clipped!!!
 
A grazing muzzle and fly mask that is impossible to remove by horse or his field mates. A saddle that stays put on a flat backed haffie. :D
 
Love the hair sucker-upper! I have to clip my old native all year round and I HATE all the clearing up afterwards almost as much as getting hair in places I didnt know existed.

I would love to find a flicky broom and shovel that didnt fall over the second you put them against a wall, that really gets my goat!
 
Definitely voting for the fly repellant that actually works (I don't actually understand why this is so difficult to create TBH??),and the hair sucker upper for clipping!!
I actually quite enjoy clipping,but the hair once it starts to itch,eww making me shudder thinking of it!!

How about very low calorie grass?? Having a very good doer this would be a dream come true,no more muzzling,restricting,frantic exercising etc,bliss for me and the horse!!

Rugs that don't rip no matter what.

I will also take the big bubble someone mentioned that keeps me warm/cool,dry and fly free no matter what:D

Totally ridiculous, but a massive phone so he could text me at night to say he's alright! :p. or a nice giant hot water bottle under his bed for the winter :D lol
 
A no-fill rug that is actually torrential downpour proof, fly repellent that works... Oh and a new set of back legs for the horse please!
 
Maybe a field consisting of a row of grass covered travelators? You could rotate them so you always had the right amount of grass and maybe they could have a fencing strip on them so that you could confine the horse in a small area to catch it?

Failing that something that magically vanishes snow and ice and send all the water to reservoirs that need topping up

Having a grey I'd like a colour shampoo so I could change her colour to liver chestnut, bay or black whenever I fancied :D

A lightweight turnout rug with detachable neck.

Still thinking there must be lots more ideas that would help all us horse owners

this!! esp once the flicky broom has been used ratrher a lot and the brisles are shorter at one end than the other! they just dont stand up!

i have a lightweight turn out with detachable hood? its an amigo and really good :) not quite torrential downpour proof but more waterproof than nothing! ;)

i would like a horse who could trim her own hooves so no need to spend fortunes on a farrier

self putting up jumps

the hair from clipping collector some one suggested

and i would like to train my dog to sniff out ragwort at the rosette stage for when i am trudging through the long grassy field!

and something to stop my poor horse from itching :(

and i would also like a CCTV camera with nightvision so i can check the horses arent up to mischief at night - linked to y phone or computer of course!!

and a pocket sized vet that i could just whip out whenever i had a question instead of getting put through to the drippy receptionist who never knows where the vet is and could avoid call out charges!

just a few things ;) . . .
 
That they could leave themselves out of their stables, scoop feed into their buckets, bring buckets back to stable and close door, i'll give them their hay!!! I so friggin wish!!!!!!
 
I'd love:

a self-picking field
A robot to catch and bring in horses for me
a robot groom
oh and a insert for his brain that stops him spooking at leaves, ferns, and logs :rolleyes:
 
I always think, everytime I muck out a shaving bed (not very often thankfully) that I'd like to invent a seive blowdrier.

I hate the second part of mucking out a shaving bed: the faffing around collecting all the little bits of poo and having to decide if that patch of shavings is wet enough to throw out, or to save money and keep it and mix it with the rest. I love a clean dry bed and therefore end up throwing out perfectly usable shavings.

SO, I want a large seive attached to the wheelbarrow that you throw the 'borderline' shavings into, and the stuff with little bits of poo mixed it. It will sift through the shavings, letting the poo roll into the barrow and drying the shavings as they fall into a pile for re-use.

It would be do-able too..........

I'd also like a conveyer belt along the back of the stables so all you need to do is throw the dirty bedding through the (extra) window/door and it takes it off to the much heap.
 
A horse that would load

Fields that you can change the ground conditions on at the flick of a switch, from 'hard' through to 'flood' depending on what you wanted

I love the clipping idea

Shoes that never wear out or come off?
 
A ragwort zapper that would magically make all ragwort vanish, even the stuff that's just seed.

Failing that, a feed supplement that could make ragwort non-toxic.

For years I've been thinking of something similar. My idea has parts of the floor opening under a grid strong enough to hold the weight of the horses. All the muck and dirty bedding falls through the grid towards a central conveyor belt which takes the muck to a waiting trailer. The trailer has a composting substance that reduces the muck to such a small volume that it doesn't have to be emptied more that a few times a year. Oh heck, if we're dreaming, make it that it never has to be emptied!
 
Some of these are just brilliant :) I know some of these have already been mentioned, but I would most like:

A cure for COPD
A muzzle that is soft and comfortable, never rubs, can't come off and never wears out - or failing that lo cal grass :D
Self-pulling and plaiting mane
Self-trimming feathers
self cleaning tack

Ah well we can but dream :D
 
A cure for EPSM!

Am loving all the keeping-greys-clean suggestions. The hours of my life that have slipped thru my fingers while I've been soaking a tail in a bucket.

And who but people on here would understand how jolly irritating it is when brooms *won't* stand up!

Am also liking the plaits on a roll!

Another vote for something that removes the permanent yellow stains from white tails and feather. Witening shampoos are good at cleaning and whitening, but once the hair is permanently stained, then nothing actually works.

An easy and permanent way to mend ripped rugs. If only.....
 
I love all these replies and suggestions! I think every one of them would be useful, we should start manufacturing them lol.....

I just snorted my coffee!! ^^^Yeeesss!!! I just read this to my OH and he suggested a horse that doesn't dung at all. I said that could never happen, to which he said "like any of the ones you've read to me could?"
