We found a tick on Finn tonight in between in his front legs. He has never had one before. It is no longer on him. What is the best way of getting rid of them and prevention. Many Thanks

Hels_Bels, I walked round the corner of the yard and saw what appeared to be my OH stubbing out a cigarette on the big grey pet!!!

You can buy a couple of different sorts of tweezers for ticks one which has flat ends that you heat up and get it off and another that has a sort of fork in the end, a bit like a boot jack and you lever it out.

I have the knack of pulling them off and have managed not to leave the head and legs in yet :blergh face:

Universal remedy up here is Spot On. We have loads of ticks, all the horses / ponies have them all the time in the Summer. Deer are staying low almost all year now so the ticks have now become an epidemic so we've finally resorted to Spot On this weekend past.
