Can anyone recommend good horse trailer insurance? It seems that different companies offer different levels of cover, some including breakdown cover for recovering the horses and some not. One company seems to have a bad reputation and yet this one is frequently used by insurers...

I'm another NFU-er!! Originally I was paying £50 for my horse and trailer, £15 per month of that was for my trailer which it is insured for £3,500.

Year after year I have had a loyality discount with them, I now pay £38 per month for horse and trailer! Bargain xx

I've just insured a brand new 506 with Stoneways for £160 a year. Petplan who my horses are all insured with wanted much more.

Now that's interesting as NFU have told me that I have to insure my car with them to have their trailer insurance. The car insurance is much more expensive than what I have currently. What does your cover include?

I insure my trailer with NFU but not my car, though my horses are insured with them so maybe that's why they excepted my trailer.

I think it is only covered for damage and theft.... can't recall break down cover - I will have to check!!

I had major issues claiming from E&L for my horse so I searched round and insured him with NFU. When I bought my trailer I just automatically insured it with them! My car insurance is with Direct Line - never insured my truck with NFU

perhaps it was because I already had a horse insured with them? I deal direct with the local office and they have been really helpful. I've never had to claim off them, but my friends have, and it has been really easy and smooth going with them xx
