Hi
I have recently Bought a Horse Trailer and it's my first, so I have a couple of questions but am not sure who or where to ask, so if anyone can be of help please let me know

Ok, First question is this, it's an older model Trailer, it has a sticker on it that says "Hunter West-Wood" on it, Not sure if this is the make or not, I am trying to find out if there is a Vin Number or something to identify the trailer for parts etc.

Second question is this, I do not see any kind of cable under the trailer other than the lighting etc, So I assume their isn't electrical brakes on it? So How would I find out if it has brakes and what kind?

It should have over-run brakes which activate when the towing vehicle slows - it activates a pressure ram which compresses and activate the trailer brakes - the more compression the greater the braking

I am concerned there is not a breakaway cable so my advice is to have one fitted asap

http://www.westwoodtrailers.com/Products/NEW_TRAILERS/Horsebox.html - if that is the company that made it then you might get more info on it

Are you towing on a B or B+E licence ?

This sounds like an ifor Williams trailer that has come from Ireland - Westwood trailers are sole distributor in irl and they badge the trailers as hunter- Westwood. I'm sure if you call them with the chassis number they will answer any q's you have

I think you are correct, Not the first time I have heard this.

You should find any identification on a plate on the chassis, usually under the jockey door or front ramp. If its old or ever been stolen then it may not have a plate.

No lol, when I said I was trying to find the identifying numbers I meant on the trailer, Not the liscense

I was asking if you have a B+E because if not then you will be under B licence towing rules which restricts you with what you can tow

I often ask this question as many only have a B licence and are unaware of those legal restrictions

When you say no are you saying you only have a B licence and not a B+E?
