Please can anyone who has any of the following trailers (or anybody with other suggestions) tell me what the think of them - any good or bad experiences. My horse has suddenly lost his confidence with travelling and can just about chuck himself on the floor and it is awful to see. I am thinking of changing trailers but would like some feedback on different trailers. The equi trek space treka L, I have taken him in a equi trek but not this model and i felt he did travel better backwards and there was a lot more room and he was taken with the windows. I have seen some bad reviews about equi trek build quality but could any owners of the space L let me know if they like/ dislike it - how the horses travel in and its stability. Also how do you find the ride height, the one i tried him in seemed very close to the ground - anyone grounded out. Next trailer I've seen is the fautras oblic +2, I like this trailer and seems to have good build quality, the only thing i wasn't sure about was the stall for the second horse because the area where its head goes seems to be a small triangular space and then where could a hay net go and is it too confining? Does anyone have one and how do they find the space for the second horse. How do they travel? I tried him in one and he seemed ok (but was in the fist stall with more head room) and the step up was fine. The other trailer i saw on the internet that was rear facing was the richardson supreme excel - but not tried him in one? What are they like? Whatever i get i would like the larger models for the extra space. All comments will be greatly apprieciated. Thanks

I don't know if this is any help, but my friend has an equi trek & both her & my horse regularly travel very well in it. I don't know which model this is but my friend has had hers for over 5 years & loves it!

I've just bought a new Bateson Deauville and I can't praise it highly enough. Rear load, front unload. Groom's door as well. Great attention to detail inside and out. Light to tow, good balance. Holds its resale value well. They had a good deal on at a local (ish) franchise and I got it for a very reasonable price. I also like the look of the new Rice Trailers but cheap they ain't!!!

We bought a Richardson Supreme Excel this summer after our mare decided she didn't want to ever go in the Ifor again and kept climbing the walls and going down. She was slightly better with the partition out but we had so many peoblems actually getting her in and we all ended up stressed.
I can honestly say, she is no problem to load in the new trailer, she seems really comfortable travelling facing the rear and never moves or gets the slightest but sweated up.
It was expensive but for everyone's sanity definitely worth the extra money.

ive not had the Space trekka L but ive had the Show Trekka L - not much difference in the horse part but the living area is different. I also had a horse that couldnt travel in a trailer without either throwing herself on the floor or hanging herself.
She travels like a dream in the Equitreks (i now have the Star Trekka) she runs up the ramp and again like yours in fascinated by the windows. Since getting the equitrek ive had no problems with her travelling, she stands like a dream and again i think she prefers to travel backwards.

Ive not had any problems with the build quality of the Equitrek. My horses have done damage to it (namely the grip strips on the ramp), and ive asked them to fix it (and said i would pay) and they have fixed it free of charge. Also on my new trailer, the gas went on the ramp - i called them, booked it in and they replaced them with brand new fittings for free.
Cant highly recommend the service ive got from Equitrek direct.

I have a Show Trekka & love it, Kizzy travels fab, it tows beautifully, really stable. Have done 2 stay away shows in it, & really don't know how I managed before!! No problems with build quality at all, highly recommend. The dealership I used didn't really put the service into customer service, maybe because I haggled a bit too much!!

The trailer i have got is an ifor williams HB505 - the more i look at him in it the more i know he needs more room. Thanks for all the comments so far - seems encouraging about the rear facing trailers. Any further comments would be great. anyone got the fautras or space L

Thanks

Before you go to the expense of buying another trailer, would it be possible to try him in another, preferably one that you are thinking of buying? It might be that he's lost confidence in trailers full stop. How does he travel in a lorry? I have known horses that won't travel in a lorry but fine in trailers and vice versa.

I have tried him in an equitrek - not the space L but a L model so the horse space is about the same. He was not perfect but after a short drive he managed to position himself in a really wide stance and looked a lot more comfortable and the final few turns he didn't move t all, i did feel after a few journeys to figure it all out he would be ok in there (he had never travelled backward before) I tried him in a fautras and he walked straight in and travelled better seemed more stable but wasn't sure about the second stall - didn't know if he had to travel there would feel to confined around his head. He is 16 2, but has a high head carriage. I feel it is the width that is the big problem. I had the trailer checked and they couldn't see anything wrong with it. It is a 2002 trailer. I had him back in my trailer and was ok ish in the driver side but still lent very hard and if he was in the passenger side he would def hit the wall and chuck himself to the floor. I think he would travel on his own ok but need to travel more than one. Thanks
