I need to get my cob fit so we can survive riding club camp; go on fun rides; and enjoy some competitions over the summer.
As this is my first horse I have been trying to find a training program. When I trained for half marathons this were readily on the web, and were very detailed - specifying exactly how many minutes to run at what pace etc. But I can not find anything similar for horses! The only programs I can find say things like hack for 1.5 hours, with a canter. But how long should I be aiming to canter for? Whilst hacking - how long should I spend trotting/ walking/ going up hills?
At the moment my boy has a good basic fitness level, but he needs to be fitter, and he needs to convert some fat into muscle. So if anyone can help I would be extremely grateful.
