My friend was supposed to be moving my horse on Thursday to a new yard but her lorry broke down at the weekend and wont be fixed by Thursday, can anyone recomend a company to move him or have had any dealings with a transport company?

My horse is a bit of a brat to load (only ever tried a trailer hence asking friend with lorry) do you know if they would persevere with a difficult loader or just leave him if he was being a brat?

All advise appreciated

Eric Gillie, transported my dodgy traveller gelding five years ago for me, and my new mare a month ago, second to none.

Fab I will give him a ring, what price are they I have never had to use a prof before so have no idea, I am moving him roughly 20 mile.
Do they load them or would I load him? I think he would prob be better with someone else as I would prob have negative vibes and add to any problems.

Another vote for Eric Gillie! Have used them twice to transport horses from England to Scotland and they were fab! Reasonably priced too.

They will quote you a figure over the phone. It cost me £250+vat for a 500mile trip which included stabling overnight at their Kelso yard.

I'm sure they would load him for you.

Went with eric Gillie they were fantastic I was a complete waste of space i was so nervous about the move/loading and the driver loaded him almost single handedly (I closed the door lol) would highly recomend them and would use them again if nes (hopefully not as we are setteling in nicely at new yard now :))

I've used Eric Gillie twice to move my horses, from Scotland to Ireland and back again.
Very professional and they deal with difficult loaders no problem.
I'd not use anyone else but them, they are very professional x

Another vote for Gillies. £188 for a 320 mile round trip and 3 nights stay at their Kelso yard. They have suspension hgv's for horses that are difficult to load. Alternatively, save your money and walk the 20 miles. We had to do this with a horse that simply wouldn't load
