I need a pony moved from Perthshire to Moray asap but am having problems organising transport. Eric Gillie wants £200 for the journey, and I'm sure it can be done for less! Anyone have any ideas? Self drive or shared load would be fine! Thanks.

Eric Gillie was only £120 when i moved mine from inverness to perthshire!
I would recommend them highly though, very good to deal with, I dont think even £200 is too bad for the service you get.

My friend in Tamworth sold a horse to a woman in Newcastle. It was picked up by Eric Gillie, and I have to say (although I have no idea what it cost) what a fantastic service it was - top class lorry, expert handling for a nervous animal and on time at both ends of the journey.

I used Eric Gillie to bring a mare down from Scotland and again would say fantastic service, excellent lorry and they kept me well informed of e.t.a. Maybe worth paying that bit extra as recommendations seem to me as always the best way to do or have things. Dunno

Gillies I dont personally like, however often they are the only choice. It costs you depending on how many are on the load to share. I was charged £180 I think to move a horse from Biggar to Aberdeen. My horse arrived late, with a driver who didnt seem to know one end of the horse from another, he was hungry and extremely thirsty! AND he'd banged himself going in and still has the scar to prove it...

I would recommend Gordon Hamilton over any other Scottish transporter. My horse was taken from Moray in Scotland to Cornwall by one 'name' he arrived in terrible condition, so much so my mum who was meeting him had to check his brand before she'd believe it was him.
Godon brought him back a year later (he was working in conjunction with P & L Luck, who I'd also recommend wholeheartedly) and when he arrived back he came off the box as if he'd just come 10 mins up the road.
