Okay i want to do a little sideline in horse transporting - spoke to defra all ok - insurance all ok ..sooo.

I would be driving them myself in my jeep and ifor 510 trailer.

Just wondered what people would be willing to pay inc cost of driver and diesel to and from shows etc etc.

Any thoughts welcome!

Thanks - how far was that - if it was an hour or so away after diesel and insurance she must have earned about £15 for a days work (well watching an event is hardly work) but still!

Well done on starting your business!

You have to cover your costs!

Your public liability and Care Custody and Control Insurance
Your hire and reward road insurance
Your Trade Breakdown Equine Recovery
Your Time! Minimum wage is £5.93ph
Your personal accident insurance! (What happens if you get kicked!)
The water and disinfectant costs!
Equipment costs and washing of if supplying them
Haylage costs
Advertising costs
DEFRA Licence and Your CET certificate costs
Subscription costs to either Findhorsetransport or horsetransport search

So looking at all of that really you need to be charging round £1 per mile with a minimum charge so to speak-you choose your radius around you.

See what the costs are of all the other transporters around your area

Good luck! Hope that helps!

It was about 20 miles and I thought it was very reasonable.

Have paid about £80 for a show just a few miles away in a similar type af vehicle.
