Any one of the reputable (ie insured and licensed) international transporters (either Google or in H&H ads) will be able to help you out - this is the cheapest way of doing it because it will be a shared load, but you would have to isolate the horse for a couple of weeks afterwards, cos they usually pick up some bug en route. If you are transporting the horse yourself, and it is your horse, as far as I know you only need a full passport - at least, that's all I've ever had. If you are taking money for it from someone else, you enter the realms of operators licences and commercial insurance ... and they are getting tougher about checking .... and journey breaks/watering/taking the horse off the box etc.
thanks for that. he is my own horse and I am taking him to the UK myself. Just wondering as i don't want to turn up at the ferry and not have the paperwork in order. i have his passport and i think he just needs a vet cert with neg coggins test. Any idea if i need anything else?
I'd be cheeky and ring up a reputable transporter and ask, or possibly your vet will know. Better to be sure than arrive at the ferry and get turned away. Have a good trip!
