Hi, just a quick question if anyone can help. have been looking at a horse that i may buy, but it's up in derby and i am in cornwall!!! Does anyone have any idea what i would expect to pay for transport for such a journey.

Cheers.

I paid £200 for Surrey to Cornwall, so around 200 miles, at the beginning of this year, that was with a transporting company in Cornwall. Not sure how much help that is.
They were very good though

who did you use?

claire howarth in exeter is good if a large lorry can get to you both ends and you dont mind a shared load.

I used P and L Luck, they are based in Liskeard. They have an 8 and a 10 horse lorry I think. It'll be a shared load, but my mare was last on and first off so I don't think they stop and start that much which cuts the time down.
The driver was good with the horses and seemed very nice

Eventhough he'd had a horrible week with gales and storms travelling down from Scotland! He also said he has a number of yards through out the country that he can stop and and let horses off, or stable over night. Although I should think thats more for scotland to cornwall than Derby to cornwall!
