Hi

My very naughty gelding picked up my GSD when she was outside his stable by the shoulder and thew her across the yard. The dog is fine I think her pride was injured more than anything, the thing is Talullah ( gsd ) loves Finn, I mean she is stuck to him like glue(more like a stalker), they hack out together really well. when he tied up the yard she sits with him. when he is being schooled she will run round the outside of the school.(when she is allowed to )she can be a bit of pain with him as she loves him and I think he was just telling her to sod off. He is not fussed at all by the other dogs even when they steal his feed, just her, and having been a police horse for over a year he would have seen GSD's.

This happened recently and she is fine, justs gazes at him with love/lust from a distance till they go out, just wondered if anyone else had a dog picked up and thrown.

Mine do it to anything that dares venture into their field. Its most likely a territory thing! The neighbours sheepdog was thrown over the wall after being charged at, the horse put his nose under the dogs belly and threw it! The two geldings hunt as a pack - they have cornered/chased dogs, cats, birds anything that dares comes in!!

And yet both of them are utterly brilliant out hunting with the hounds between their legs etc One in particular will go for any dog unless it is hound coloured!!

At least yours had long hair and wouldn't have felt much - she won't forget though, my dog had the same thing happen to him and would never go near grey horses again!! (fine with everything else!)

My friends Clydie X once tried to pick up a very dozy one eyed ram we had staying with us - He got his teeth through the fleece and was lifting him before we knew what was happening! Ram didn't seem to give a monkeys though!

one of my horses once picked up a shetland that was in the next field by the scruff of the neck.
the owner was there at the time and I was mortified!
