A friend has just purchased a second hand horse walker (for what seems to be a very good price). What she is now wondering is what the average cost of installing one is? So has anyone had one put in? How much did it cost you? I know every one varies but she needs the electricity laid, drainage put in for the surface (think she is putting in a sand surface which she already has) and is wanting post and rail fencing around the outside of it. Plus obviously the putting up of the horse walker itself.

Mine was about £8K all in, don't remember exactly how it was broken down, though...
I think I paid about £100 to dig a trench for the cable, £80 for the sparky to connect the control box and £300 to put the walker mechanism+arms up and bolt to concrete pad.
I have mesh and rubber fencing that came with the walker, bolted to a concrete track, both outer and inner fence; the fence 'tracks' created a channel for surface, which is compacted crushed tarmac with a bit of sand on top (free).

Not very helpful, am I? :o

Haha. You have been the most helpful person to reply so far!!

Its giving me an idea, seems like you paid about £500 for the installation. Friend needs a concrete pad put in too so that could be quite expensive. Plus fencing for the outside. Hers didnt come with that.

Well, the concrete pad for mine was 'thrown in' free, as I had a pad for 5 stables put in at the same time - it's not very big, maybe 4' square...
If it's a 36' walker, she'll need about 70 meters of post and rail to do both the inner and outer fence, you can budget about £10 per metre. You could get away with only the outer fence, I'm a worrier, though, so decided to have a fort Knox built :o :D

Not sure about second hand ones but we had a brand new 4 horse one put in and the compnay we bought it from did all the installation as part of the the total price. The total cost was about £5500. There was quite alot of ground work that went into the preperation of the area of the walker and there needs to be a concrete base with ducting for the electricity then the actual walker can be installed onto this concrete base.

Hmm, i think she has measured that there will be 60m of fencing so £600+£500 plus concrete pad maybe? Everyone on here is so posh they just have new ones put in :)

All depends. mine was already here, im very lucky. Its a brick indoor and has the wire in the centre. i know of one that is just the sides (as in sheep gates) for 1k. I hope she has money lol
