Ahem, slightly embarassing problem... as above!
Went for a ride yesterday eve (just an hour or so), and my boy wee'd about half way round, then riding back towards home (5 mins away) he stopped in the road, so I kicked him on. I was riding past some houses and I could see our reflection in the windows and he had his willy down! very embarrassing as lots of cars driving past and it really is grim (won't let me clean it even when sedated!!) Anyway, the first grass verge that came along, he dived on it for another wee. So got home, gave him his tea and he went out and did another one straight away!! He's been through phases of going for a wee every time i ride before, but never like this, and to even consider weeing on the road he must've been desperate as normally he'd rather die than get splashback!!
Haven't noticed him drinking ovelry much, but I did put them onto a bit of field that had been rested for a couple of weeks and it did rain a lot yesterday morning so he probably took in more water than usual while out grazing. Can horses get cyctitis or anything along those lines. or might he just be getting a weak bladder in his old age (16)?! Got a lesson tonight and last time he spent the 1st of it acting like he wanted a wee, so dreading that again!!

Was going to suggest 'she' might be in season or something but maybe not!!

Is he eating a lot of dandelions? They make them wee.

How old is he? Can be a symptom of cushings.

There could've been plenty of dandelions on the paddock.
He is 16, yikes, will look up cushings but have to say, he looks fab for his age and is (otherwise) in good health and on good form.
Thanks.

Have had a look up and he doesn't seem to have any other cushing sysmptoms, could well be dandelions so will see how he goes in my lesson tonight and if still doing it will try and catch a wee sample... could be interesting!!

My horse always wees alot this time of year - think to do with a lot of grass and possibly dandelions as mentioned. If it is mostly clear I wouldn't be too worried.

Both mine are peeing for England at the moment - I am putting it down to the very wet grass soup that they are slurping in the field - think they are drinking as much as they are eating at the moment - some of our field is under water.

Chancer did four big wees in the space of six hours and then had another one after his show when he went in the field.

Cairo would not wait 30 seconds to get out of the stable yesterday - and he peed so much it was like a hose had been left on - couldn't believe the amount washing around.

As long as he is not straining or his pee smells funny, I would not worry unless he is not getting a lot of this very wet grazing.

We've had a low grade virus affecting some of the horses on our yard. The one thing they all have in common is it seems to make them wee more than usual.

Other than that they've just been 'off colour' with nothing you can really put a finger on. Vet's advice with most is 'keep an eye on them'.

my horse is weeing for britain , 2 weeks ago any time any where , now in more normal places , but always a good amount with a good stream , which is not indicative of infection
