Ok I maybe concerned about nothing, but tonight Albert had a pee out on our ride (towards the end) then when we got back he was stood in the stable and some wee came out, then as we were walking back to the field he had another pee when he was put into the field he wee'd again then went off grazing.

Any ideas?

This may not be of much use, however he may simply have been drinking alot more than normal ...... it has been hot

My friend's ned was often colicky and had major diarrhoea attacks if given sugar beet. If he was feeling off colour and colicky he would always strain for a pee half a dozen times or more on a hack. I'd keep an eye on Albert - maybe check temperature, pulse, breathing rate, is he sweaty etc, sort of stuff that would be colic symptoms. If in doubt, get the vet out.

He's not been noticabley peeing a lot today his field is next to YO kitchen window so she has been on Albert watch all day.

I will monitor and call the vet if I worry anymore

dont worry if it is a kidney infection/cystitus - my horse gets one every winter no matter what i do (well ok hes had it for the 2 years i had him) - he just gets a course of antibiotics and is gone within a week.

just keep an eye - my horse pees when i finish riding him and when he starts to do this more frequently i take a pee sample to the vets. costs very little to get it checked!

i wouldnt worry - another symptom i found is that he tires easily when he does have an infection.

Hi,

If your horse is actually drinking and peeing alot, I would mention it to the vet. One of my horses had this and also eventually became lethargic.

He was found to have kidney damage, diagnosed via blood tests. I'm not saying this is the case with every case but is certainly worth checking.

Please feel free to PM me if you need any further information

You need to keep him in of a night so you can see exactly how much he is weeing, unless you will stand out in the field and watch him 24-7 you wont know. Thats what i had to do with my boy. He flooded his stable, i called the vet the next morning and i was told that its just an old man thing lol. He is 29 years old so i exepted that. He's ine in every other way.
