P peed 4 times in the space of 2 hours today which is v unusual for him.. His wee wasn't smelly or unusual in consistency so possibly not an infection. Was wondering if a chill could cause excessive peeing as his l/w rug was a bit damp inside?

Perhaps he was a little warm under the rug and drank a lot???

I would keep an eye on it over the next day or two.........do you have a thermometer to take his temp??

Oh gosh hadn't thought about a thermometer. Haven't got one but will try to pick one up on the way to the yard tom. I naturally assumed he was cold as he lived out 24/7 but I hadn't considered the rain sheet could be making him a bit too warm.

2 separate things though!! If he is warm under his rug he may be thirsty; if he has a fever he may have a temp.

He wont have a temperature if he is hot from the rug as that wont affect his core temperature!

(sorry if it confused you!!)

Is he turned out at the moment? There is a huge amount of water in the grass at the moment so I'd expect neds on reasonable grazing to be wetter than usual.

A couple of years ago I noticed our pony was weeing a lot more than usual. After this had gone on for a couple of days I called the vet who gave me a tub of pink powder to add tohis feed. I can't remember what it was called but the tub was oval and was gold. The powder was based on cranberry. I added a scoop of the powder to his feed every day for a week or so and he was soon right again. Might be worth you ringing the vet just to ask.
