horse with a cough

had a right rough few months i have anyway horse had a runny nose, hes on antibiotics, runny nose clearing up but developing a cough getting vet out though,any of you had horse with cough how long did it last and what did vet give you and what was specific care of horse

treatment depends on what your vet thinks is causing the cough, whether it is allergy related, immediate environment, as in bedding, stable ventilation or virus, as some of these things we can do something about and change.

Both of mine have had a bad cough as have other horses on the yard so definitely a virus, old boy also had a slight runny nose on and off and a chronic cough which has gone on for weeks, I have now turned him out for as long as possible and started Breathe supplement. I think he had a virus but now has COPD. He didnt cough once on our ride tonight, last week he nearly coughed himself off his feet and flipped his larynx it was so bad, he had to be led home roaring.
