Not 'aawww' for me, sorry. I find that disgusting. Americans are complaining constantly about the amount of horses going to slaughter and not being able to rescue them and then they decide to spend an increadibly amount of money on a horse that will never be able to do anything. I do not agree with prosthetic limbs on horses and never will. A 3 legged dog or cat can have a fantastic quality of life and can do just about everything it could do with 4.... what can a horse with 3 legs do. Oh, it can just about manage a trot round her paddock, oh that's OK then. Lets face it, this isn't about what's best for the horse, this is about selfish selfish people wanting to 'see what we can do'. If it was my horse no matter what it cost to get a prosthetic limb I would never do that do her and she would be put down. Am quite frankly disgusted.

OK, rant over now.

FFS if a horse breaks it's leg that badly it should be PTS end of story.

Only selfish owners with too much cash to splash (or a dumb ass insurance company) would even consider putting their horse throught this.

A horse is a flight animal without 4 legs that function to a decent extent it will live a life of misery.

And she is at an animal sanctary!

How many healthy horses could they have saved, and rehomed with the money it cost for the surgery.

And I would like to see how sound that horse trots before I can decide if it is cruel or not.

well, my cousin lost his leg in an accident a few years ago, and has a stump and an artificial limb. he gets a LOT of pain from it, to say the least, phantom pains, sores, ulcers, etc etc.
i would never put ANY horse through this, even one I adored. it is completely ridiculous imho. they could have rescued a lot of horses for the cost of what it took to "save" this one.

This horse should have been pts and put out of pain .We saw a horse a few years ago at an equine hospital near Banbury that had a false leg . It kept having to be stabled and each time it went home its leg got sore and it had to be returned, terrible life for a horse

That was a big grey, seem to think it was called Barney, but could be wrong. It was stood in when I saw it and have to say it looked just so wrong and I felt really sorry for it. You have to ask the owner why she did it though I suppose, not the vets, we all know why they would have done it.
