horse with broken molar?

My horse seemed to have a slight lump on the side of his face so i felt up the side of his teeth and his second molar back seems to be sticking out a bit and sharp. It feels like it has broken and moved a bit? can't open his mouth enough to see. I've phoned the equine dentist to see if he can come asap but not sure whether to phone vet tomorrow if he doesn't get back to me. It is not bothering him at all and he is eating and working fine.

Anyone's horse had a broken molar? i am panicking now that it may have to be surgically removed! my horse is such a wimp he will never cope!

Dont panic yet, it may not be that and if it is and does have to come out, it may be able to be took out under sedation.
My horse had a fracture cheek molar which was infected and my vet attempted to take it out under sedation but it broke and he did have to have a GA. Vet told me the reason it was difficult to remove was most likely because of his age, he was 4 at the time as they have very long roots and if he was old it would have been much easier. An older horse came in about 2 weeks later and his tooth was removed under sedation without any problems, just my luck eh!
My horse did have complications but is fine now.

my horse had a slab fracture of a molar.like yours managed to eat fine and luckily when dentist came 3 days lare just popped it out.now the new tooth is growing she sometimes gets that lump on the side when food gets impacted in the gap.dentist recomendedtrying to wash mouth with hosepipe but also to massage the lump from the outside to try and move it.i wouldnt panic. i am a panicker but get the dentist out early next week.

Friend/clients horse had a slab fracture with the outside edge sticking out towards the gum. We knew nothing of this as he was eating and acting normal. Was only when we did a routine check up and he wouldn't let me near it that I realised something was up. Had him sedated and it turned out the be a small slice of tooth which came out by hand. The fracture had not gone past the gum line and both me and the vet agreed that it didn't need further investigation/treatment other than the usual work of making it comfortable and regular check ups. With time it'll grow out. So panic not, it may only be a small piece which is easily treated.
