Horse with heaves

My horse has heaves! I didnt realize what it was when i talked to the vet but i give him an injection of Dexasome ,but im scared about him having a heaves attack if i rode him?Should i continue with his training or should i stop and keep him as a pasture horse? He had been worked and he is saddle broke at the moment but he has never had a rider. I am still working with him and ive saddle broke him he responds well and hes very good with being relaxed and calm. Can i still ride him?

the poll is for what im wanting to make for a long time. Im turning 16 and im wanting to train horses and help others. Its just been my dream
