Just wondering if anyone knows if a horse that has had a tie-back operation loses his voice? My big black horse has recently learnt to call for his buddy but he's very hoarse and has almost no voice at all! Being a big boy out of racing, I'm wondering if he's maybe had a tieback operation. It's all academic - just being curious!

Anyone had this before?

I have! my girl has had the op, and now cant whinny! its quite endearing really as she tries so hard but just cant do it! She sounds like she's smoked about 40 fags a day. I always know its her that is calling as its so deep!

You can find the tieback if you feel for it. It will be a small scar about two inches long behind the curve of his jawbone at the top of his neck. It might take some searching but it should be there - happy hunting.
