My horse had been on gastro guard 2 weeks got 2 weeks left .. Needs weight bit don't no what to feed so gains weight but doesn't effect ulcers .. It if gone helps to keep them away ? Any ideas or people been through this ?

I have a friend who has really struggled with this, but is having much success with Thunderbrook feeds. I think they have mixes specially for Ulcer prone horses. She's even managing without his ulcer supplement on these feeds. No experience myself, but I know she has experimented a lot.

I would also recommend Thunderbrook but in addition it might be worth trying Coolstance Copra which you feed as a mash - very high oil so good for conditioning and ulcer friendly.

My boy looked awful when being treated for Ulcers to start,I tried him on Alfa Healthy Tummy which blew his brain so after loads of research put him on Mollichaff Calmer,Baileys Lo Cal Balancer and Dodson and Horrell Fibre Nuts.Have actually had to cut his nuts and Balancer during the summer as he was getting too fat!.Has Speedibeet in the winter.Has 50ml Vegetable Oil 3x a day as a must and Baileys Pre/Pro Biotic. He looks fantastic, good luck and hope it helps.

Does anyone no if calm and condition is ok for horse with ulcers?

It doesn't look too bad, but it does have wheat feed in it which drives the starch % up a bit. Ideally you'd want something with no cereal grains in it. But the sugar content is pretty low and there isn't any molasses in it so that's good.

Speedibeat or linseed are both good options as both the sugars and starches are really low. Top Spec Cool Balancer is cereal grain free as well. You could also go for an oil and linseed oil has some anti-inflammatory properties.

I had mine on Hifi and Alfa-a lite, Cool Balancer and linseed oil.

Hiya, I had same problem with my tb! But he's on top spec feeding and the weight piled on and is suitable for his ulcers. He's on top spec top chop, cool condition cubes, cool balancer and has done great on them.
