horse wont go in the water - richard maxwell type help??

hi I cant get my horse in the water xcountry - he is usually v bold. I think he needs something like richard maxwell because 1 1/2 hours of trying everything else didnt work. I am based in the south east, cany anyone reccomend what to do or person to help?

One thing recommended by Roger and Joanna Day is the follwoing (I have seen this work v well):

Set aside a good long period of time by a water jump with a slope entry. Work your horse hard, in trot and canter beside the water, ignoring the fact it is there. When your horse asks to slow/have a breather, offer him the water to go into as a place to stand and have a rest - the second he resists, back into trot and canter, in outline, plenty of transitions etc. Every time he asks to have a breather, offer the water, if he goes in, let him stand, pats etc and go home. Repeat ad nauseum until horsie learns that the water is somewhere that offers him an escape from hard work. It prevents any fights/napping etc because as soon as they resist you stop asking and stick them back on a 20m circle and work them hard.

You may need to do this several times, but in the long run it is as effective as anything I've seen for getting a reluctant horse into water without escalating a battle with them.
 
Why not ask Richard Maxwell, if you go on his website and then click on forum, click on I agree and then scan down list there is a section where you can post a question to Max about this sort of problem.
You can also read all the horse blogs in Maxs horses thread which are blogs on all the horses he has in and a daily account of what he is doing with them you might find one with similar problems to yours and get some ideas on what to do.
 
Thanks guys. I might try that technique. I am based in Surrey I know richard maxwell is based in Lancashire - do you think he would come this far? Or if he does I guess it would be very expensive. needs sorting tho
