pretty much what title says really, but my lovely chap just wont stand when he doesnt want to , chatting to this woman the other day and just wouldnt stand but when he eventually did it only lasted a few minutes , but i dont want to put a stronger bit in as he is very sensitive in mouth any ideas?

Is this the one that's only 3 years old?

If so he is only a baby so I would expect him to be a little fidgety. Just praise him when he does stand still, please don't put a stronger bit in, this will not help him to stand still at all.

We had a 3 year old who wouldn't stand so would take him out longlinging, ask him to stand and would just wait until he stood still, once he did then we would "good boy, walk on". Eventually he got much better, when they're young though they don't like standing for too long, far too boring. :D

Hi, Does he stand when you're on the ground with him ? I have worked with my youngster and taught him that when I say 'stand' then he has to stand and not move. I started off with deciding where I wanted him to stand and then every time he moved even one foot he was put back on the spot I had chosen. Takes a little while and consistency but now he'll ground tie and stand whenever asked. Also stands when asked on the longlines. Just hoping this translates to ridden work when I start riding him!
