Horse won't turn right in trot/canter?

Definitely not mixed signals from the rider as 4* riders are better than that! It is where to start & investigations being affordable as vets just want to refer you these days rather than diagnosing.
Because the referral hospitals have resources and equipment ambulatory practices don't so are a lot more likely to be able to give an accurate diagnosis.

If they are referring you for the right thing. Even MRI's won't necessarily diagnose anything & I don't have the money to pay for one, especially when no one has any idea what needs scanning!

I suppose I was actually hoping commenting on an old thread that someone may have come up with an answer to give me a starting point.

Owner thinks its just how he's built or because he's never been schooled to do 20m circles... problem is I don't want to undermine the owner and get a vet?

As for my aids, I'm only trying to turn him by looking in the direction I want to go and using the rein - my legs are all over the place often my saddle ends up slipping to one side because im leaning unevenly on the stirrups? Been riding about a year.
Can you get some lessons from an experienced & knowledgeable trainer? To help you & the horse become “connected”.

If you can't afford the diagnostics and the horse is field sound and happy, then turn them away for 6 months and save up for the diagnostic work. Your horse's issue sounds quite nuanced so diagnostics over the internet are unlikely to help you

Horse is totally sound. It passed a 5 stage vetting with X-rays when I bought it. 6 months of 6 years won't make any difference with regards to finances sadly. I am not expecting an Internet diagnosis I was just wondering if the op had come to any conclusion with their issues to maybe give me a starting point.

OP's horse/problem description sounds quite different to yours though (putting aside that they haven't been on this forum for 9 years).

I've personally known horses with issues in one canter direction but not the other turn out to have a whole variety of issues - SI issues, ligament damage/strain, various issues in their spine....that's why vets are going straight to referral for a proper workup, because the range of issues your horse could have is pretty broad. If you can't afford a work-up/diagnostics then you are a bit stuck tbh.
